The Follow Fest

Hosted by Melissa Maygrove!

My name is Livia Peterson. I was born in Hanoi, Vietnam and adopted by my parents. I write film reviews and columns. My main focus are theatrical reviews -- current movies that are playing in cinemas. However, I critique films on home video, but I do not write reviews of them. The writing aspect is the basis to the film aspect.

I've written memoirs before, but I'm not currently writing them. I began writing reviews in 2010, and then established my own film criticism. My grading system is A through F. I am tough to please when it comes to films.

I'm passionate about films. I am a regular at my local Marcus Cinema. The majority of the films I reward an "B" or "C" to. The latest trends I've seen in films are mediocre performances, inconsistent pacing, overlong runtime, etc. I could talk about movies all day long.

You can find me on the major social media sites: FacebookTwitter (@LiviaGPeterson), Pinterest, Google+, and Instagram (@LiviaGPeterson).

  1. Livia, I do so enjoy your reviews! I even sometimes worry about you financially because movies have become so EXPENSIVE! Outrageous, even. Please be sure to EAT first, REVIEW after!

Thank you for a little more insight into your life. :)

  15. Hi, Livia,
I have to admit that I like one-hour weeklies much more that movies. Feels like a big time investment to sit still for that long. :)

  22. I'm trying to get more into going to the cinema, and it's only really doable since I became a "Hoyts Rewards member" - they feature a $10 movie each weekend for rewards members. Usually a movie here costs between $18 and $23 (no really, though the latter is for 3D stuff mostly, and you don't even wanna know how much the "premiere" type tickets cost). So yeah, trying to do more of the $10 movie weekends, but have only seen a few so far. :D
