Thank you all for hosting this awesome blogfest!
My name is Livia Peterson. I was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, adopted by my wonderful parents, and live in Wisconsin. I'm an aspiring film critic and writer. I mostly write nonfiction (movie reviews and blog posts).
I began blogging in May 2012 and little did I know about this awesome community. I first thought you would come to me, but I was wrong. I ventured into the writing community and before my eyes, I started hanging out with writers! I'm very shy, but the more I socialized, I gained friends who mean a lot to me. This community is very welcoming no matter what genre you write.
I love seeing films on the big screen! I usually see a movie in theatres almost every weekend depending on the releases. I save my ticket stubs, so I can remember the experience. I critique every film I see in theatres or on rent. I see too many predictable and derivative films, so I'm a tough critic.
I don't watch much television, considering I see tons of films. I enjoy watching the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and the Academy Awards. I love cheering on my favorite films during awards season.

I loved getting to know more about you Livia. And I agree, this writing community is amazing and very welcoming. There is room for everyone. And like you, I love watching movies on the big screen, much better than on the tv.(:
ReplyDeleteGreat to get to know you better, Livia - I've been curious and speaking as a friend to a couple who've recently adopted two kids from South Korea, it's wonderful to hear from someone who's "been there and done that."
ReplyDeleteDidn't know you were born in Vietnam.
ReplyDeleteGlad you ventured out and discovered this awesome blogging community. Some really amazing people here.
I took me a while to figure out blogging, too, and have people check out my blog. When people started commenting, I freaked. Suddenly, what I had to say mattered. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great community, isn't it? :D
I wish I would have saved all the ticket stubs for the events I went to. And isn't the blogging world an awesome place to be!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice if "if you build it, they will come" would actually work. Took me a little bit to figure it out also.
ReplyDeleteMovies is something I enjoy as well!
So I bet you enjoyed the SAG awards last night then?!
Nice to meet you, Livia. It is a wonderful community this of writers. I just found it myself. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm relatively new to blogging too. Of course I don't count my first 6 months where I didn't know what I was doing. Now I do... Kind of. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, Livia!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your reviews! I'm bummed because there hasn't been many "must-sees" coming out lately, but I do look forward to Nov. when Catching Fire is set to come out. Did you enjoy the first Hunger Games movie? :)
sweet story of entertainment and joy!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed getting to know more about you, Livia. So glad you found our group! :)
ReplyDeleteThe writing community is definitely a welcoming one. I'm glad you found your way in!
ReplyDeleteI'm very shy too, Livia, so I can totally relate to you there. It was hard for me to start socializing on the blogs but now I'm so glad I did. And glad you did as well so we could meet! :)
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you. The blogging world is wonderful! I'm glad your shyness didn't keep you from being a part of it. Films are much better than TV.
ReplyDelete*waves* Nice to meet you, Livia! I'm shy, too, but the blogging community is a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! I love the movies too ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you again, Livia! ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more movies in theaters but the price keeps going up and up.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're finding comfort in the blogging community.
Very cool to learn more about you, Livia. You've always been such an enigma. I LOVE movies, nearly as much as I love books, though I could never be a critic. Could never sit through most of the movies out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to re-meet you, Livia.
ReplyDeleteAs a child I was painfully shy, but in recent years I've become bolder...
You can build a nice collection of movie ticket stubs... smart idea!
It's fun to get to know you better here. Great blog hop!
ReplyDeleteHi Livia! Boy, have you travelled! I haven't been to Hanoi OR Wisconsin but both are beautiful places and you're a lucky goil to have seen so much of the world and have such awesome adopted parents. So nice to re-meet you!
ReplyDeleteWe're not that far away - I live in Iowa! Movies are always better on the big screen. The writing community is so supportive! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the time to go to more movies. There are so many out that I want to see. It's great to get to know you better. :)
ReplyDeleteNew follower saying hello from the blogfest...There are so many movies I want to see, but there's never enough time to see everythign. Good luck with your aspirations to be a film critic. How wonderful it would be for you to get paid to do something you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who chooses to hang out with writers is A-OK in my book. :-) Good to meet you--again!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Wisconsin. It's pretty sweet. And you are so right that you have to put yourself out there to get people to find your blog, but then there are all those great bloggy friends to make :)
ReplyDeleteFollowing in preparation for the Blogging from A to Z Challenge. I used to see a lot of movies, but not so much in big screens any more, although I am hoping to change that next month.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your chosen profession. I think a great review is hard to write, so kudos for that! I'm jealous of how often you go to the cinema!
ReplyDeleteAnother Wisconsinite! *waves* Nice to meet you. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Livia,
ReplyDeleteYOU have certainly made a BIG SPLASH in our community for such a short time with us. Congrats on your nomination... BTW.... You have LOVELY positive energy. That is so needed.
Great to re-meet you! I live in Chicago... so not too far away. There are other wonderful writers in Wisconsin.. We should try to all get together this summer!
I love being a part of the blogging community, starting a blog was the best decision I've ever made :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been so great to get to know you too Livia! I don't see enough movies unfortunately. Maybe you can tell us what movies to watch since you seem to know what you're talking about :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know a little more about you. The blogging community is great, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHi Livia! Great to meet you =)
ReplyDeleteI love seeing movies on the big screen, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of films too. I used to want to be an actress, back in the day. I enjoy watching the award shows too :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of films, but I am willing to watch a few predictable movies . . .for some reason, and I'm not sure why, some of them are just fun. It's been great getting to know you Livia!
ReplyDeleteHi, Livia,
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you. I'm not much of a movie fan, but I understand the fascination with them.
Nice to meet you! And thanks also for being one of the A to Z hosts. I did/am doing both hops (re-introduce and soon AtoZ).

i use to save all my ticket stubs, so did my mom, in my own jar. it was cool to go back and see all the movies i had seen...
ReplyDeleteMy husband used to save his stubs too. These days, I don't get out much and I haven't seen a movie on the big screen since the last Harry Potter film.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see another non-fiction writer on this hop. I'm impressed that you see movies in the theatre every week - wow! I only see movies in a theatre if they look better on a big screen.
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting A-Z. This year will be my first year and I'm excited.
Nice to meet you!
Very cool Livia! I love movies too, but I definitely don't get to watch as many as I used to. :( Such a bummer, but that's okay.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I've found some terrific writer friends and writerly support through blogging, as well as through Twitter.
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting A-Z this year! And that reminds me, I'd better go sign up. :)
